Tips for 8-letter codeword entries
- Among 8-letter words in our dictionary, the most common first letters are S, C, P and the most common last letters are S, E, D.
- The most frequent letters inside 8-letter words are E, A, I, S, R, so they are good first guesses when a square is still empty.
- About 80% of 8-letter words contain a repeated letter. If two squares share a number in your puzzle, put the same digit in both boxes here.
- Knowing just the first and last letter, for example
G......Y, still leaves 110 possible words. Add a letter from the middle to cut that down quickly.
